Tutoring at Virtualis follows the classical tradition of the master-student relationship — a skilled guide leading your student deeper into understanding, not merely covering ground. Some students thrive with additional one-on-one attention; others benefit from guided support in developing writing and rhetorical skills. Whatever the need, our approach respects your student’s unique learning path and your role as the primary educator.

Through our partnership with Great Hearts Online, Virtualis students have access to teacher office hours, tutoring sessions, and reading support as part of the academic program. Your student’s teachers are the first line of support — and they take that role seriously.

Academic Support at Virtualis

Great Hearts Online provides a range of academic support as part of the school program. Availability and format may vary by grade level and student need.

Teacher Office Hours

Teachers hold regular office hours and are available for one-on-one help, assignment clarification, and deeper discussion of course material. Specific times and availability may vary by teacher and grade level.

Reading Groups (K–3)

K–3 scholars participate in small-group reading instruction 2–4 times per week, Monday through Thursday. Group size and frequency are based on each student’s reading level and the support needed.

Teacher-Referred Tutoring

Students who may benefit from additional academic support can be referred to tutoring sessions by their teacher. This targeted support is designed to address specific gaps and reinforce current concepts.

Asynchronous Fridays

Fridays are reserved for independent coursework, with no live classes scheduled. Teachers are on duty during the school day and may be available for additional support during this time.

Beyond the Classroom

In addition to the support built into every student’s week, Virtualis offers guidance for families seeking more intensive academic mentorship:

Subject-Specific Mastery

Focused support in Mathematics, Latin, Sciences, History, or ELA where your student wants deeper understanding. Tutors work within the classical curriculum to help students truly grasp the foundations of each discipline.

Writing & Rhetoric Coaching

Guidance in developing strong writing and speaking skills. Students are mentored through essay composition, argumentation, and oral presentation — essential classical skills that serve across all subjects and into higher education.

Special Education & 504 Support

For students with existing IEPs or 504 plans, services such as small-group instruction, concept reinforcement, testing accommodations, and homework support may be available. Availability, scope, and any associated costs vary by program and individual need. Families should contact us to discuss what accommodations and support options apply to their student’s situation.
